Satellite radio and keyless ignition and entry are offered as standard in the newest BMW M5. Despite the fact that the Bluetooth audio connectivity remains as standard, the integrated smartphone application feature is still an extra cost option.
Exterior Design and Technology
As a high performance luxury sedan the BMW comes with 19″ alloy wheels, adaptive xenon headlights and also summer performance tires. A competition package is also available and features 20 inch wheels and black wheel chrome.
The new model comes with keyless ignition and entry, and adaptive cruise control. There is also auto-dimming mirrors, dual zone climatic control, leather upholstery and front and rear parking sensors. Other standard features include heated front seats, split folding rear seats and aluminum interior trim too.
Engine and Fuel Economy
The BMW 5 comes with a 4.4l turbocharged v8 engine that delivers an estimated 560 horsepower and 500 pound per feet of torque. A 7 speed automated manual transmission with steering wheel mounted shifters is also offered as standard in the M5. The EPA fuel economy for the BMW M5 is estimated at 15 city and 22 highway which is lower than most cars in this class.
Standard safety features include traction and stability control, automatic brake drying and also brake fade compensation. Other safety features include knee protection, active front head restraints and front seat mounted side bags.
