The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu is a lot roomier as compared to its predecessor and it has adopted a more high class look. There has also been a hybrid trim added to the Malibu line up with a combined fuel economy rating of 35 MPG.

Exterior

The exterior of the 2017 Malibu has on one hand gotten bigger, but on the other, its also gotten lighter. It is currently 200lbs lighter than the 2016 model. It’s achieved this by using the Epsilon 2 platform. By altering the front grille and fender, they’ve improved the design of the hood. There are plenty of available colors too, but the most famous is Blue Velvet Metallic.

Interior

The interior design of Malibu is much longer than previous models. It has more extra space to move around front and rear. There many different systems which fitted with this model such as the MyLink media system, which uses a 7” touchscreen, as standard. The cabin has been redesigned with driver and passenger comfort in mind.

Safety

Safety measures are the first priority of the Chevrolet Malibu. All models are come standard with ten airbags. They also have ECM grade braking control, a LATCH system, and a stability control system as standard. Optional features include parking sensors, lane guidance systems, and a rear view camera too.

Engine

The 2017 Chevrolet Malibu has a standard 1.5L 4-cylinder engine, an optional 2.0L 4-Cylinder DOHC Turbocharged engine, or a 1.8L hybrid turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with an output of 160 HP and 184 pound-feet of torque. Each engine is available with L, LS, and 1LT trim levels. All of these trims have front-wheel drive and all engines are matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The fuel efficiency rating for the standard engine is 27/ city, 36/ highway and 31 MPG combined. The hybrid engine gives fuel efficiency of 49/ city and 43/ highway or 46 MPG combined. Though the hybrid model starts at about $6,000 more.
