So the 2016 Volvo S60 is just over the $30,000 limit we set but it is a fantastically comfortable car that we had to include. It features a great combination of powerful engines and an extremely good gas mileage. The 2016 S60 has increased the interior space and has challenged its German design competitors.
There is a new body for the 2016 model, with 3″ longer wheelbase and 17″ wheels, automatic headlights, LED running lights. You can add a sunroof in some models and you can choose your color from black to red to white – with a number of finishes too.
In most models you can have the added luxury and comfort of leather upholstery in a myriad of colors but textile comes as standard in the basic model. There has been an improvement of 3″ of extra rear seat legroom. Graphite aluminium inlays come as standard for the interior but you can also opt for piano black or wood. There is a touch screen that displays both entertainment systems as well as having internet capabilities and access to the navigation system within the car.
For big families, the Volvo S60 has the option for a dual-screen display with rear-seat entertainment system. There are also options to add blind spot information systems, a climate package, homelink with remote operations such as keyless drive and garage door opener. As standard, there are Wi-Fi capabilities as well as 3D navigation.
Engine/ Fuel Efficiency
It has a base 2 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder direct injection engine that has an MPG rate of 37 on the highway and 25 in the city. With front wheel drive, 240 horsepower, and 8-speed geartronic automatic transmission as standard, for that little bit extra in the initial cost you can find yourself powering through the streets like you’re in a car twice the price. Though the fuel efficiency rating is reduced on models with AWD, the S60 remains to be a very economical car.
Focusing on safety features as always, the Volvo has equipped itself with a system that is able to brake automatically when it is at low speeds so as to avoid hitting pedestrians or other unexpected obstructions. You can add driver assist packages at extra cost to the basic model and can add adaptive cruise control which automatically slows your vehicle when it feels that you are too close to the vehicle in front.
