Overview
The new 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-class seems pretty much similar to its predecessor. However, looking at it closely reveals a different body design. The German automaker has finally come up with a stunning new design of their longest running automobile series. A number of technological improvements have been made to realize this design.
Exterior Features
From the front fascia, a set of suspension bolts directly attached to the frame is noticeable. The new model appears to have eliminated the subframes. It features wishbones stacked about three feet apart with the strut towers connected with a giant brace in the engines bay. The rear axle has also been revised to adopt a fifth lateral link geared at maintaining a better alignment of its wheels under higher lateral loads. Other than its normal steel coil springs, the model also bears new shock absorbers which are electronically adaptive. The front axle clearance has slightly increased to 10.6 inches, with the overall ground clearance being 9.5 inches. Moreover, the fording depth is 27.6 inches, a substantial increase of 4 inches from its predecessor. More features include a unique front grille, side exhaust, and flared wheel arches.

Interior Design
The new design has a spacious interior that provides more space for passengers, thanks to the increased external dimensions. Its dashboard is equipped with the modern Mercedes Command Multimedia system which blends in with the 12.3-inch HD screens fitted under one sheet of bonded glass. It also has touch-sensitive control pads clearly visible on the steering wheel spokes. Its seats are well furnished with leather coating for ultimate comfort.

Safety
A clear 360-degree back camera linked to HD screen on the dashboard enables the driver to reverse safely. Additionally, it also has attention assists, a traffic sign assist, active lane keeping (lane switching sensors), 64-color ambient lighting, and adaptive high beams.
Engine
The powertrain is composed of a Mercedes “hot inside vee”four-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that offers up to 416 Horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. It has a 9G-tonic 9-speed automatic torque converter which replaces the previous 7-speed variant. The engine has a cylinder deactivation service which eases social conscience. Also, its power enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph in only 4.4 seconds. Its top speed is at 149 mph, an advancement from the previous speed of 130mph.
