Exterior
The 2014 Lexus ES brings some new things to the table for Lexus, as it looks different from past models. Of course, the ES has the spindle grille that defines new Lexus generation. On the sides, flared fenders give the car an attractive sporty quality. This vehicle also has twin tailpipes underneath the bumper, while the ES 300h hybrid version has just one below a spoiler under the bumper. The Lexus ES sits on low-resistance tires and 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, with larger wheels coming as an optional feature.
Interior
The ES’s cabin space is sophisticated and classy, yet still logical and easy to use in design. This more modern design is highlighted by clean lines and soft surfaces. All models come with a dial that can set the vehicle to three different modes: “normal,” “sport” or “eco”, while hybrid models come with the option to drive a short distance on battery power alone, similar to a feature of the Toyota Prius. In terms of comfortability, the ES offers ample room for four passengers and is one of the roomiest options on the list.
Technology
Some of the best technology features for the ES are push-button start/stop, dual-zone automatic climate control with air filter and smog sensor, and also a moonroof. There is an auto-dimming rearview mirror, HomeLink garage door opener, and an 8-speaker AM/FM/6-CD/satellite radio audio system with USB/iPod inputs too.
Engine
The ES 350 has a 3.5-liter V6 engine that generates a solid 268 horsepower, which is connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Fuel efficiency has improved in this newest model, through the addition of low-friction materials. ES 300h (hybrid) models use a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine and battery-powered electric motor. The hybrid model uses an automatic, continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Safety
When it comes to safety, the 2014 Lexus ES comes equipped with 10 airbags. There’s also a digital backup monitor, an emergency assistance service at the touch of a button, and also Lexus’ Automatic Collision Notification if an accident occurs.
