Engine/ Fuel Efficiency
An EPA fuel efficiency rating of 43/42 MPG in City/ Highway means a 42 combined MPG on the standard Hybrid engine in the Volt. The 1.5L Voltec Electric Drive Unit is direct injection and works of front wheel drive. It is capable of up to 149 horsepower and 294 lb-ft of torque. Acceleration is impressive for an hybrid engine – 0-60 in just 8.4 seconds. And the top speed the Volt can reach is 98 MPH
Antilock brakes, front-seat side airbags, stability and traction control, side curtain airbags and an active front head restraints. Besides, a rearview camera is standard. Optional equipment includes automatic braking for frontal collision mitigation, a frontal collision warning system, lane keeping assist, a lane departure warning system and road-departure mitigation (that senses any potential for veering into objects like parked cars or trees and applies the collision mitigation systems and lane keeping assist).
